Creative Art Journal Challenge Week #25

The challenge this week is to describe a photo that means something to you....
This picture means so much to me as it captures the moment that the Nana in me was born.
I played with water color crayons and pastels for my background paper and I used oil pastels on the underside of the ghost flowers.

My cupboards!!!

OK, let me just say that my cupboards were the most disorganized mess you have ever seen. I did what most of us do, emptied them all over my counters and then walked away close to tears overwhelmed by the mess I just created. I headed to my computer to search how to organize cupboards and I came across this blog called Calm and Collected Organizer. It was so easy and fast that I am almost done all of the cupboards in my kitchen!!!!
I love the internet!

This is so beautiful!

Pierogi Casserole

I made the best casserole tonight for supper. It was so delicious that my husband had three helpings!
Be sure to serve it with sour cream! I got the recipe here on YouTube!

Spa Day!

On Thursday I treated my daughter to a day at he spa for her birthday. My mother had done the same for me for my last birthday and I enjoyed it so much so I thought I would pay it forward. We went to Aventi Spa in Edmonton and were treated like queens. We had pedicures and facials with lunch served in a private room in between our treatments. We did a little shopping before heading home.It was a great way to rejuvenate!

Creative Art Journal Challenge Week #24

This week's challenge is "Remember when"
I came across this picture this week and it reminded me of when my husband and I had so much fun celebrating out 25th anniversary with our family and friends. Because we married in 1972 we chose a 70's theme for our party complete with dashikis, (which I made from second hand curtains I found) afros(yes that is my real hair in the picture), and records played on a record player. We had so much fun! It's hard to believe that was over 10 years ago!

Winner of Boxed Card Set!

The winner is 3QTguys!
I will have that in the mail to you this week and thanks everyone for playing!

Belly up!

I've been surrounded by pregnancy related things this week. First my partner and I prepared 12 belly casting kits for prenatal classes at a health unit. We placed them in the cutest containers too.
Then I facilitated a Mother Blessing ceremony for my daughter in law on Saturday evening and it was beautiful!I prepared these bracelets for her to tie on everyone's wrists.
After the blessings were read my mother as the oldest matriarch then adorned her hips and she began to dance. We all thoroughly enjoyed the evening!

Creative Art Journal Challenge Week #22

This week's challenge is "What would you like to learn?" I would love to learn who my ancestors are all the way back to pre-slavery days.I know my father traced his ancestry to Nigeria! Growing up I always wondered who and where I would be if it hadn't been for those who marched and fought the brave fight before me. I also have American Indian in my blood and I believe that is where I get my strong sense of spirituality from.Oh, I wish I could learn so much more!

Baby's First Mukluks!

I went to a lovely baby shower for my daughter's sister in law on Sunday. Everything was so nice and the snacks were great. They even had shots of pumpkin soup and little mini sundaes for dessert!!
I made these chocolate brown mukluks for the baby and tied them to our gift!
They are so fast and easy to make and so cute. They knit in under two hours. For the free pattern go to Wool La Lah!

Yarn Goods!

I'm still knitting and crocheting up a storm. It must be the -38 degree Celsius weather we've been having!!!
First I knit these little slippers for my Boo.They are actually a denim blue but they scanned kind of purple.

I've officially knit my first sock and the wool is cast for its match!!! They are a wool/acrylic blend and they are so cozy!

....and my daughter and I are working on our individual ongoing projects for 2008...a Babette Blanket that I first fell in love with at Purl Bee.

My daughter is my incentive to finish this as she is a much faster crocheter than I so I am always playing catch up!
Here is mine so far:
